HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

WOOTS WOOTS IT'S 2011!!  This is the year of my graduation and my entrance to the real world!  It's also suppose to be the year where the world ends but I highly doubt it.

On 12/31 my uncle, aunt and I headed out from Lamma Island to meet up with their godchildren - my godcousins: Kan Mei Mei and Kan Mei Yee.  We walked around Mongkok and shopped a bit.  Then we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant - which was amazing!

We headed to Times Square of Hong Kong to celebrate the New Year.  Although it was exciting to be doing the countdown with a lot of people, it was nothing compared to New York.  After the countdown, no one was screaming anymore or showed signs of excitment.  I kept on saying, HAPPY NEWYEAR!  in both Cantonese and English but no one would respond back - LAME.

OH well, it was still exciting to celebrate it in Hong Kong and to be with my family!

DISNEY LAND IN HONG KONG!!!!

woots woots!  A lot of people have told me that HK's Disneyland is lame and extremely small and I shouldn't waste my money.  However, I've never been to any Disneylands and so of course I must go!  Carol and I met up first in the train station.  There is a special train that takes you to Disneyland from Sunnybay Station.  When I get a chance I'll post up pictures of the train because it's so cute and Disneyified.

The ticket was pretty pricey: $350 HKD but I expected it.

My first stop: Lion King musical.  There we met up with Tim and her younger sister and cousin from China.  Luckily, Hannah made it in time to watch the musical.  I must say, it was a really lame.  I was so disappointed, the actors can't sing at all and they ruined the songs!

Then we went to see the Golden Mickey Musical which was a lot better than the Lion King.  There was an actress named BeBe who isn't Chinese but spoke Cantonese very well - I was very amazed.

Then we went on a series of ride including Space Mountain which is suppose to be the most terrifying ride in Disneyland - it was not.  In fact, I wasn't even a bit shocked.  It was entertaining though because Hannah was scared and there was a cute worker who spoke perfect Cantonese and English.

We had lunch at an Asian restaurant and I had Indian food:

I also met up with my god-cousin, Kan Mei Mei - what a small world!

I really wish I can post up pictures right now because the pictures really speak for itself.  I had a lot of fun overall, Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth :)

han gok chin gok man na yo :)

Today I met up with Carol, Glaydys and Hannah at Tseun Wan.  I was the first to arrive but the others quickly met up with me and we headed off to find something to eat.  First stop: some Italian place which was amazingly cheap and delicious.  We ordered a pie of pizza, 2 rice/spaghetti dishes, chicken wings, and 2 orders of french fries and it only cost 136 HKD!!!

Afterwards we walked around some malls (there are a shit ton of malls in Hong Kong - way more materialistic than Korean) and visited Carol's mom at her 7-11.

Then we went to Neway to Karaoke!!!  Wow, HK's karaoke is so different from Korea's nodaebang!  Instead of having a book and choosing a song based on the number in the book, you do it all by the machine.  It was really efficient and you can pick which kind of MV you want (real offiical MV or concert MV).  I only know 2 Chinese songs so I sang that and some English songs but I really enjoyed watching my friends sing in Cantonese.  The songs they sing: I either heard of it and never saw the MV or never heard of it and can learn more!

Afterwards, Gladys left to go home and Carol, Hannah and I went to find dinner.  We went into a mall again and I tried a new HK snack call lololo which is mix mix mix in Chinese.  You order different types of ingredients (such as jellyfish, fake crab meat, chicken, beef, etc) with an order of noodles and the people will mix everything together with garlic sauce.  I ordered 4 ingredients: jellyfish, noodles, crab meat, seaweed, and octopus and it only cost me 10 HKD!

Then we went to McDonald for dinner because I heard that HK's McDonald is the best in the world.  It wasn't bad and instead of apple pie they have red bean pie.  I bought it and it was disgusting - I don't recommend it!

After dinner we all split up.  It was great seeing my Korean HK friends again - especially Carol and Hannah because they were in my Korean class!  I missed them a lot!

Exploration of Lamma Island and Harry Potter!

Today, my aunt, grandpa and I went out to explore Lamma Island.  We currently live in Sok Kwu Wan and we hiked over to Yuen Shoi Wan.  It was a really nice hike and the weather was good.

We arrived in Yuen Shoi area after 30 minutes hike.  First we passed by a really nice beach - it'll be so nice to go in the summer time.  Then we settled at a Turkish Kebab restaurant for lunch.  After hiking some more we had more street food: satay, corn on a cob, and my fave: dun fu fa: I'm not sure how to describe it: the texture is soft like tofu but it's a sweet dessert.

Then we headed to Lamma Winds to see wind mills but there was only 1.  I was a bit disappointed but it was a nice view.  We hiked back to Sok Kwu Wan.

Now it's 7pm and I'm watching TV while my aunt rests.  We're going to take the ferry out at 8:30 to meet up with my uncle and godsister and we're going to watch Harry Potter :)

MERRY XMAS!

woots woots!  Today I went to Mong Kok to see Tim, my dear HK friend from Seoul!  We went to eat at a Taiwan restaurant and I had noodles and tofu.  Then she took me to a nearby mall and we checked out the stores.  We went to several malls and just checked out the stores there and did some window shopping.  Afterwards we went to a big mall where they have a Hello Kitty exhibition!  It was pretty exciting but there were too many people!

We had dessert at a pretty popular dessert chain restaurant in HK.  I had a mango dessert and Tim had durian (nasty!!).

It was great seeing Tim again in HK!  We both miss Seoul a lot and I can't help but agree with her that Seoul is better than HK.

12/24 - TVB City, HK Cultural Center & Tsim Sha Tsui Nightlife

Today, I explored the city by myself!  Since I've been in HK, my grandfather has been with me the whole entire time.  I miss my grandpa a lot but I'm used to having my own independence and being alone.  So finally my grandfather said it's okay for me to go out and explore!

First I took the ferry to Central and caught the subway to Tseung Kwan O which took around an hour and a half.  From there, I took the taxi to TVB City.  I couldn't go inside the city but I was able to take pictures outside.  One day, I"ll be able to go inside for work!

Then I took the bus back to Tseung Kwan O and took the subway to Tsim Sha Tsui.  I wanted to check out HK's cultural center but there was nothing to do there.  I really want to watch a play or see a musical but there was nothing showing at the time.

I then took the subway to Causeway Bay to meet up with my aunt.  I got there early so I walked around a bit.  I passed by a restaurant that was serving desserts so I headed inside and had a ginger milk dessert.

I met up with my Aunt and she and her goddaughter, Kan Mei Mei and I walked around and had some street food.  Then we took the cable car to meet up with my  Uncle in Wan Chai.  Then we took the ferry across to Tsim Sha Tsui again to check out the Xmas festivities.

Afterwards, we took the subway to check out Temple Street.  Temple Street has a lot of street vendors that sell a lot of random things.  I bought a dress.  We also sampled a lot of street food.

Since it was late, we took the speedboat back to Lamma Island.

Pictures will be posted when I get wifi on my laptop.
